Wave
From KayakWiki
Waves come from a variety of sources and can indicate a variety of conditions, but in all cases a wave is a way for water to transmit and use energy. Wind waves are produced by the wind dragging against the surface of the water and imparting energy to the water. Current in a channel will produce waves when the channel changes width thus suddenly changing the energy density in the water. A kayak hull will produce waves as it moves through the water.
