Volume
From KayakWiki
The word Volume in kayaking can refer to:
- The rate of flow of a river i.e. the volume of water flowing down it (see Flow)
- The volume of a kayak, is a measure of its size. High volume boats are more bouyant. Low volume boats, less so.
- Playboats and Squirt boats are low-volume.
- Sea kayaks and Creek boats are high-volume.
- Within each category, low vs high is relative. For example, Greenland kayaks are low volume compared to a typical touring sea kayak.
- Submerged volume can also be an indication of displacement, since the displacement is this volume times the density of water.
