Nick Schade was the original owner and administrator of the KayakWiki webserver. He developed kayakwiki as an outgrowth of the Kayak Forum and as part of his business: Guillemot Kayaks. The Guillemot Kayaks website was started in 1994 with the Kayak Forum added in 1997. Since then the cluster of websites (Guillemot Kayaks, Kayak Forum, and See Kayak) have become the most extensive and most visited kayaking related sites on the internet.
