Tuiliq
From KayakWiki
Pronounced "do-ee-leek". Sometimes spelled tuilik
A long, hooded garment worn by Greenlandic kayakers to keep water out of the kayak, and to keep upper torso warm. The sleeves close around the forearm at the wrist to form a water resistant seal. The hood also forms a seal around the face. The bottom of the tuiliq is attached to the coaming of the kayak. A traditional tuiliq is made of sealskin.
- Neoprene versions available in black from Brooks Paddling Gear and in a variety of colors from Bug Head
- As well, a GoreTex tuiliq is (occasionally) available from Superior Kayaks
- In the United Kingdom, Chill Cheater sell a Tuiliq - only available in black (but this seems to be a fairly traditional colour for the Inuit, who had perfectly good reasons not to want high-visibility clothing:)
