Topographic map

A map that shows the topographic details of an area.
These maps are quite detailed. They show land forms and elevations. Contour lines indicate the three-dimensional shape of the land. Prominant buildings, radio towers or other man-made details are noted. Terrain types (rock, sand, swamp etc) are also shown. These maps are usually overlain with lines showing geographic and UTM coordinates.
