Royalex

Royalex is a brand name for a vinyl and ABS plastic laminate used in boat construction. It is very common in whitewater canoes but is rarely seen in whitewater or sea kayaks. The ABS core provides strength while the vinyl on the outside provides UV protection and colour.

One of the reasons it is not often used for kayaks is the difficulty in getting a good seal adhered between the hull and deck.

Royalite is a lighter, thinner version of Royalex.
