Retrieval kayak

Short, maneuverable kayak designed to retrieve dead or wounded game from the water. These kayaks were used often by the North Alaska Aleut after the introduction of firearms.

Caribou were too fast to chase on foot, and were often shot entering or in the water. The retrieval kayak was employed to tow the game back to shore.
