There are a couple of variations of this type of eskimo roll. Here's one:
The paddle is floated on the water perpendicular to the kayak. The paddler holds the paddle with both hands (one near the end of the paddle blade, the other on the shaft) and holds it so that it stays at the surface. A strong hip flick is used to right the kayak and the paddler is upright.
