Pencil flare

A small flare that is launched from the hand.
These flares are mounted on a pen-like device for launching. They have a trigger and firing pin to launch the flare. These are smaller and less capable than aerial flares. They barely reach 100m and burn for up to 6 seconds.
These devices can also fire bear bangers - flares that are meant to be fired in the general direction of a bear. They make a flash and noise, ending with a loud bang. The bear usually leaves in fright.
