Nalgene bottle

Two types:
- polyethylene - white in colour
- polycarbonate (brand name Lexan) clear and coloured.
The polyethylene bottle will deteriorate with age, turning yellow and cracking. However, they tend to stay waterproof even with some subsurface cracking. They also tend to impart a bit of plastic taste to water.
The polycarbonate bottles make excellent water bottles. They are very tough and do not transfer taste to water.
Nalgene bottles can also be used for waterproof storage of small items.
