Lightning 14

I had the chance to paddle the Lightning 14 one beautiful weekend in September, 2003. I usually paddle a Lightning 17 so I am used to a certain resistance to turn. I was very surprised at how quickly the Lightning 14 turned. In fact, it was down right fun to get up to speed then yank it around to go the other way. I found it to be very responsive to handling and easy to get up to speed. It has enough storage volume to make a weekend paddle comfortable. I found it very stable all around and fairly quick for a shorter sea kayak. Its 24 3/4" beam caused it to kick up a fairly good wake so it isn't going to win any races.
