[edit] Golden Gardens

[edit] Where Is It?

Seattle; From Interstate 5, exit to 45th St and head west. Follow 45th through Wallingford as it jogs north and becomes 46th. Just west of Phinney Ave. N., 46th becomes NW Market as it bends and goes downhill. Follow NW Market west through Ballard. This arterial will become Seaview Place and turn north just past the Locks. The park entrance is located along the water on Seaview Place; Golden Gardens is about five miles from I-5.

[edit] Facilities

Plenty of free parking, beautiful beaches, fire pits, toilet. It's a short walk to the water... provided you find a good parking place.

[edit] On the Water

If you're a Seattleite, this is the easiest way to get your boat salty. There's a lot to see too. On a clear day, the Olympic Mountains rise dramatically to the West. To your South is an interesting marina, the Chittendon Locks and the (more or less) isolated beaches of Discovery Park. At dusk, you'll find bonfires out there almost any night of the week.

[edit] Cautions

This is a very popular beach. It's pretty hard to park on a warm sunny day. Wet suit is required for this and all cold water.
