Eddy

From KayakWiki

An Eddy is a section of water that is slow moving (or moving back upstream) in the midst of faster moving water. This whitewater feature is usually caused by larger objects diverting the water flow around the object (Rock or man made feature). Eddies can be very large in size down to 'micro' eddies just large enough to fit a Playboat.

The process of entering and leaving eddies (eddy in, and eddy out) requires leaning the kayak to carve into or out of the eddy. Failure to carve or brace will commonly result in a capsize due to the difference in water speed at the eddy line
