Drawknife

From KayakWiki

A drawknife is a useful building tool, for building wooden kayaks. It is an open blade with handles on both ends. One grasps the handles and draws the knife towards oneself, often with the blade skewed. Some advocate using the tool bezel up and others bezel down. The handles may be inline with the knife or at an angle.

Usually the timber would be fixed/clamped during use. A common method is to use a shaving horse as in the photo at right.

And a nice, small drawknife, suitable for paddle making.
