Don't bother waxing

For some reason, there is a persistent myth that waxing a kayak will make it go faster. Apparently, there is some belief that this changes the surface friction sufficiently to reduce overall drag. In fact, there is no wax that will do this.

If you want to wax your kayak for looks, thst's fine - just do the deck and it will have a nice shine. If you want to improve the grip you have on your paddle, you can get a grip wax that is sticky and will prevent your hands from sliding on the shaft - look for paddle wax in your friendly neighbourhood kayak shop.
