[edit] Cummings Park
[edit] Where Is It?
From I-95 take exit 8 and go south on Elm Street. Bear right onto Shippan Avenue (not really a turn). Entrance to the park is on the left. Once inside, keep bearing to the right to go around the marina inlet.
[edit] Facilities
Good parking area, good beach to launch off. This park is open to Stamford residents only, but I have not seen this enforced except between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
[edit] On the Water
Paddle east to Cove Island Park or further to Holly Pond, accessable at high tide. Go a little further and you can paddle up the Darien River. If you hit the highest tide of the month you can go up the Darien River into Gorhams Pond; at low tide it's a 6 foot waterfall coming out of the pond! Paddle west around Shippan Point to Stamford Harbor or beyond to the forbidden shoreline of Greenwich.
[edit] Cautions
Light boat traffic
