Channel

A channel is a relatively narrow body of water. Channels can be natural, as in a long narrow body of water between two islands or an island and the mainland. They can also be man-made. For the purposes of navigation, shipping channels are deeper than adjacent water and can be used by larger vessels safely. In open water, a channel can be marked by buoys.
