Non-commercial recreational kayaking is a very nascent sport in India. This is an effort to document some of the places near Bangalore, and the state of Karnataka where one can kayak. All the kayakers here have inflatable kayaks.
Some kayaking Lakes around Bangalore :
Bryamangala Kere : 2 lakes on either side of bidadi, next to toyota motors.
Kanva dam : After Loka Ruchi near channapatna.
Honganoor lake : Near Channapatna. ( to the southeast of channapatna ).
Vaderahalli lake : left off roerich estate on kanakapura road
Kunigal lake : Near kunigal.
HosaKere : Near Kagllipura (can do , good for beginners, peaceful too. Avoid sunday mornings)
Hessarghatta Kere : Not much water as of December 4th 2006
Farther afield, there are a few rivers such as the Kaveri, and then several stretches of backwaters where the rivers flowing into the arabian sea meet the tides, such as Nethravathi, Aghanashini, Sharavathi, Kali and other smaller rivers. These are all along the karnataka coastline on the Arabian sea.
